On Wednesday September 25, 2019 SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) welcomed two representatives from the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, they are the Foreign Relations Officers; Ms Rungkan Punpukdee and Ms Benjaporn Munyaton. They stayed in Indonesia for a week study visit programme which aims to enhance the staff capacity with partners abroad, including the Ministry of Education and Culture of Indonesia, ASEAN Secretariat, and SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia.
They were welcomed by SEAMOLEC Board of Directors and all managers. They also had an office tour session at SEAMOLEC Office. SEAMOLEC IT Content division demonstrated the prototypes of Artificial Intelligence (AI) which are currently being developed by the centre regarding “Southeast Asia Information” and “Fruit Nutrition Detection”.
SEAMOLEC Deputy Director for Programme, Mrs Prakaikan Schneitz presented about SEAMOLEC as one of SEAMEO Centre which focus in Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and its existing programmes/ activities. Ms Rungkan Punpukdee and Ms Benjaporn Munyaton were very impressed with the information shared by SEAMOLEC, and on behalf of the Ministry of Education of Thailand, they are willing to assist SEAMOLEC for collaboration with education partners in Thailand in the future.
After their visit to SEAMOLEC, they continued to travel to Bandung for visiting SEAMEO Regional Centre for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel (QITEP) in Science, and SEAMEO Regional Centre for Early Childhood Care Education and Parenting (CECCEP).
