SEAMOLEC Training of Trainers (TOT) for Digital Simulation Subject

SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) held the ToT for Digital Simulation subject within 6 days started on April 29 to May 4, 2019, which aimed to prepare more trainers to teach the subject. The training programme was held at the Center of Teachers Development for Marine, Fishery, and Information Communication Technology (ICT), also known as LPPPTK KPTK, Gowa, South Sulawesi. LPPPTK KPTK Gowa is one of technical service units under the Ministry of Education and Culture (MoEC) of Indonesia provided for teachers and education personnel, especially those who teach subjects for Marine, Fishery and ICT.

There were 60 participants joining in this programme, consisting of teacher trainers from various fields of Centers of Quality Improvement for Teachers and Education Personnel. SEAMOLEC sent 10 trainers to be resource persons, instructors, and facilitators.

Digital Simulation is a compulsory lesson for grade X students of vocational high school of all majors, especially for schools that implement the 2013 curriculum. The content on this subject does not only teach how to use tools related to communication technology, but it has more focus on how students could explore and communicate ideas into a clear and valuable concept.

In this training programme, the Digital Simulation materials were presented under 3 main scopes; Digital Information Management, Online Communication and Collaboration, and Concept Visualization:
1. Basic Concept, Exploring Ideas, Digital Simulation Algorithm
2. Microsoft Office and E-Book
3. Virtual Class
4. Video-based Concept Visualisation
5. 3D-based Concept Visualisation
6. Introduction to AR-based Concept Visualisation
7. Pre/Post, Follow up Action
8. Reinforcement of Zone-based Learning Competence Improvement

Participants were actively involved in discussion with instructors, especially in particular materials such as Video-based Concept Visualisation where they were requested to directly practicing. Participants were divided into teams consisted of 3 people to create videos with selected topics around the area of LPPPTK KPTK gowa.
