SEAMOLEC's commitment to addressing the educational needs of remote areas reflects its vision of inclusive and equitable education for all. By leveraging technology, fostering partnerships, and empowering communities, SEAMOLEC continues to bridge the educational gap in remote areas. Expanding its reach beyond Biak Numfor Regency in Papua, Ambon City in Maluku, and Ende Regency in East Nusa Tenggara, SEAMOLEC has embarked on a new collaboration with Kupang City and Kupang Regency, located in East Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia.
In efforts to enhance teachers’ competency in East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT), SEAMOLEC has joined hands with the Education Departments of Kupang City and Kupang Regency, along with the Provincial Teacher Training Institute (BGP), and the Provincial Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP) of NTT, Indonesia. This collaboration aims to implement a Teacher Competency Enhancement Program in line with the Emancipated Learning Policy (Merdeka Belajar).
Not only SEAMOLEC, but this collaboration also involves other SEAMEO Centres in Indonesia. The partnership encompasses a series of training sessions tailored to address various educational needs of teachers in Kupang and the expertise of the SEAMEO Centres. The programmes include Training for elementary and early childhood educators by SEAMEO CECCEP, Science Learning workshops to enhance literacy skills among primary school teachers by SEAMEO QITEP in Science, ICT Utilization training for effective teaching and learning by SEAMOLEC, Engaging Mathematics Teaching workshops for middle school teachers by SEAMEO QITEP in Mathematics, and Language Teaching training sessions for educators by SEAMEO QITEP in Language.
These training sessions took place on Monday to Thursday, March 4th to 7th, 2024, at Hotel Neo Eltari and Hotel Sahid in Kupang, NTT.
On the first day, SEAMOLEC signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement with BGP NTT, BPMP NTT, and the Education Departments of Kupang City and Kupang Regency. This agreement focuses on enhancing the capacity of teachers and education personnel through Open and Distance Learning to improve learning outcomes in Kupang City and Kupang Regency.
SEAMOLEC training programme aims to enhance the skills and competencies of educators and education personnel in developing Microlearning content, tailored to the learning environment and context. Through a series of training sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of Distance Education and Microlearning concepts, develop Microlearning lesson plans and teaching materials, as well as to integrate Microlearning content into online platforms.
Through this collaborative effort, SEAMOLEC and its partners are dedicated to fostering a conducive learning environment and empowering educators to meet the diverse needs of students in NTT.
