Harmonising higher education and research is one of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation (SEAMEO) seven priority areas which SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) also takes part in. Over the years SEAMOLEC has developed and maintained collaboration and good cooperation with various universities/institutes/polytechnics within the region in order to strengthen them as higher education institutions and later encouraged them to collaborate with secondary education to embrace industry 4.0 era.
On Friday, June 21, 2019 SEAMOLEC and Universitas Islam Nusantara (UNINUS), Bandung conducted a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing located at the Rectorate Office of UNINUS.
The MoU was signed by Dr Alpha Amirrachman, Director of SEAMOLEC and Dr H Suhendra Yusuf, MA, the Rector of UNINUS. This event was also attended by Vice Rectors of UNINUS, Dr H Husen Saiful Insan and Dr Gatot Yusuf Effendy, Prof. H Abdorrakhman Gintings, PhD, Head of Computer Centre UNINUS Dr Ricky, and two staff of SEAMOLEC Community Partnership, Mr. Yoanda Adana and Mr. Syarif Hidayat.
Dr Alpha said that SEAMOLEC would ensure the continuation and sustainability of the program.
“Embracing digital technology is inevitable, we have no choice but to prepare ourselves,” he said.
Dr Suhendra appreciated and agreed, “We will provide our best people to collaborate with SEAMOLEC. We also hope that UNINUS can further nurture its networking with Southeast Asian education institutions and beyond.”
The scope of cooperation includes joint programmes, trainings on integrating ICT into teaching and learning, information exchange, expertise sharing, and many more.
The follow up meeting upon the MoU will be conducted at SEAMOLEC’s office to discuss the details of the needs of UNINUS, particularly what services that SEAMOLEC would provide to accommodate the needs. The MoU will last for a 3-year duration from June 21, 2019 to June 21, 2021.
