SEAMOLEC and LDPBNU Hosted the Millennial Dai Programme Batch 2

The Preaching Division of the Central Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (Lembaga Dakwah Pengurus Besar NU/LDPBNU) in cooperation with SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMOLEC) held a training on Utilizing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Preaching Activities through Social Media at SEAMEO SEAMOLEC office on July 27-28, 2019. This activity was a follow up of the 1st batch of Millennial Dai Programme (re: Dai means preacher), which was held couple of months before.

This 2nd batch of training was themed “Opportunities and Challenges of Radicalism”, followed by about 150 participants coming from various parts of Indonesia. The farthest participants coming from Pontianak, West Kalimantan province.

SEAMOLEC Director, Dr Alpha Amirrachman said, “By participating in this training activity, participants are expected to utilize the powerful Information and Communication Technology, or ICT for preaching use. Social media in this training design refers to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.”

Islamic religious leaders from LDPBNU also attended in this training programme, among others; KH Fuad Atthohari (LDPBNU), KH Kholid Ar Rifaie (Head of Committee and Head of Young Islamic Religious Leaders Forum), KH Syamsul Ma’arif (LDPBNU), KH Abdurraman (LDPBNU), KH Bukhori Muslim (LDPBNU), and Vice Mayor of South Tangerang City, Drs H Benyamin Davnie.

Dr Alpha expected that this activity will be continued in accordance with the planning of Millennial Dai Programme.

“All participants who attended in this batch will develop and empower their preaching skills through various social media platforms which will attract millennial,” he explained.

He also mentioned that besides preparing preaching materials that have to be in accordance with the interests of the millennial generation, this training will also present about rules and regulation in utilizing technology which applied in Indonesia’s constitution.

“This training is expected to shift the paradigm in utilizing internet technology, so as many positive things can be acquired through it,” said Dr Alpha.
