It was another remarked occasion of SEAMEO in the 42nd High Official Meeting (HOM) during November 27-28, 2019, in Bangkok, Thailand. As a vital link among Ministers of Education of 11 SEAMEO Member Countries who comprise the SEAMEO Council, HOM is a key forum for high level education officials to discuss priority issues and other relating matters to shape the decision and share actions taken by member states.
The 42nd HOM participated by 149 representatives from Ministries of Education of 11 SEAMEO Member Countries, Associate Members, Affiliate Members, Regional Centres/Network, Partners and observers. SEAMOLEC Director, Dr Alpha Amirrachman, and SEAMOLEC Deputy Director for Programme, Mrs Prakaikan Schneitz were participating on behalf of the centre. The forum comprised of 13 agenda items in In-Camera session and 34 agenda items in plenary session covering programmes on SEAMEO Seven Priority Areas to be decided.
In his opening remarks, His Excellency Mr Nattapol Teepasuwan, Minister of Education of Thailand, pointed out urgent need of accelerating in educational development in Southeast Asia by sharing issues of Thailand context and the significance of internal reformation, partnership as well as vocational education to strengthen quality of education and human resources towards world-class community.
Discussions and decisions during HOM will serve as guidelines and directions for all member countries and SEAMEO Centres towards the common goal of SEAMEO.
