OUSapin 2024: Knowledge Exchange between Indonesia - Philippines in Entrepreneurship and Distance Learning

To support the advancement of education, initiatives are needed to organize forums that promote rich idea exchanges and encourage new collaborations. The goal is to enhance the quality and opportunities of education between countries globally. OUSapin, derived from the word "OUS," which stands for Open University System, and "Usapin," a term in Tagalog that means discussion, is another internationalization project of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines Open University System (PUPOUS), Philippines. This project aims to maximize areas of collaboration between PUPOUS and its international partners, organized regularly.

On Friday, May 31, 2024, in cooperation with SEAMEO Regional Open Learning Center (SEAMOLEC) and Ciputra University Surabaya, OUSapin 2024 focuses specifically on issues of entrepreneurship education and quality assurance in the Open and Distance Learning (ODL) system. The event brings together experts, educators, and leaders from various institutions to exchange insights, innovations, and open up collaboration opportunities.

The event opens with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the three institutions: PUPOUS, SEAMOLEC, and Ciputra University Surabaya. This MoU symbolizes the strong commitment of the three institutions to establish sustainable cooperation and partnerships. The goal is to enhance the quality and reach of ODL programs between Indonesia and the Philippines.

From SEAMOLEC, OUSapin 2024 presents Ms. Arie Susanty from the Research and Development division, who discusses "Crafting a Culture of Excellence in Distance Learning." Representing PUPOUS, Dr. Anna Ruby P. Gapasin, Vice Preside›nt for Research, Extension, and Development at PUPOUS, delivers a talk on "Quality of Open and Distance Learning in the Philippines." As the honorary speaker, the Deputy Director for Cooperation and Technology from the Electronics Engineering Polytechnic Institute of Surabaya (EEPIS), Prof. Amang Sudarsono, was invited to share a topic "Further Development of the Concept of Online Learning and Teaching Factory." Meanwhile, Prof. Dennis Cheek, PhD, PhD, AAAS Fellow, and Dean at the School of Entrepreneurship and Humanities at Ciputra University, discusses the "Integration of Entrepreneurship Education." The event, moderated by Dr. Ivan Faronal, sees two hours of presentations and discussions filled with enthusiasm from the participants.

The event was also enlivened by welcome remarks from Dr. Manuel M. Muhi, President of PUPOUS, Dr. Wahyudi, Director of SEAMOLEC, and Prof. Dra. Jenny Lukito Setiawan, M.A., Ph.D., Psychologist, Vice President for Student Affairs at Ciputra University Surabaya.
