As COVID-19 has changed the educational landscape globally. In Southeast Asia, millions of learners are impacted by school closures and remote learning. Learners are hunkering down and attending online learning options in varying degrees of readiness from their own homes, in compliance with strict social distancing protocols and instructions from the various government. The Webinar Series on SEAMEO Response to COVID-19 was then initiated with supports and contribution from SEAMEO Centres and SEAMEO partners to provide and share knowledge, best practices, and expertise in every aspect of online and distance learning for all.
On May 22, 2020, the webinar on “Developing Learning Management System (LMS) and Open Educational Resources (OERs)” was jointly hosted by SEAMEO Secretariat and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Republic of the Philippines with key speakers from SEAMOLEC, INNOTECH, UNESCO, and Weidong Cloud Education Group aims to offer an overview on LMS and OERS, key features and tools used by practitioners and how to access technology-mediated and flexible learning systems in the time of crisis.
In the webinar, Mr. Abdul Rizal Adompo – IT Content and Knowledge Management Division Manager shared from SEAMOLEC expertise on overview of SEAMOLEC Learning Management Systems, the development of the platform, and landing page as well as steps in adding user/files/learning resources to the platform.
There were around 1,600 participants who were officials, teachers, and other education stakeholders in SEAMEO member countries who joined the webinar with active interaction during the session.
