SEAMEO SEAMOLEC, once again, hosted a webinar entitled "SEAMOLEC Inspires: Practical Strategies for Utilizing Educational Comics in the Classroom". This webinar was held online on Friday, June 28, 2024, and broadcast live on SEAMEO SEAMOLEC's YouTube Live channel.
This webinar is created as a platform to share valuable insights and best practices from SEAMOLEC training alumni who have actively followed and implemented the results of their training in their respective classrooms.
In his speech which also opened the webinar, Dr. Wahyudi, Director of SEAMOLEC, said, "SEAMOLEC hopes that this webinar can provide new insights and inspiration for educators to utilize educational comics as one of the effective teaching aids. Thus, we can create a more enjoyable learning environment that supports cognitive development and student creativity."
The keynote speaker for this webinar was Daniel Ari Widhiatama, a lecturer at Mercu Buana University Yogyakarta and the Indonesia Technology Enhanced Language Learning (iTELL) board. He talked about digital comics as an interactive and collaborative learning medium. The three other speakers were Isma Rachmadani Siregar, a teacher at SMK Telkom Banjarbaru, Aang Suhendar, a teacher at SMAS Alfa Centauri, and I Gede Eka Juni Purwasila, from SMP Kristen 1 Harapan.
Guided by the moderator, Fitria Sulistiyowati, a lecturer in the Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sarjanawiyata Tamansiswa University, the speakers presented various creative and innovative strategies for integrating educational comics into the learning process, from tips on choosing the right comics to designing attractive teaching and learning activities, to evaluating the effectiveness of using educational comics.
This webinar was enthusiastically welcomed by the participants, especially educators who want to improve the quality of learning in their classrooms. Various questions and lively discussions that colored this webinar show the high interest of the participants to learn more about the use of educational comics.
Through this webinar, it is hoped that educators will be inspired to improve the quality of learning in the classroom and enrich students' learning experiences through educational comics in a digital format.
